1177.se – The best Public Sector website in Sweden

1177.se has been awarded as the best public sector website in Sweden by Internetworld, who´s award is the most prestigious prize in Sweden.

Inera AB is owned by all Sweden's country councils and regions. On behalf of the owner, Inera develops and manages national solutions to support the health care. Inera's mission is to support and streamline health care, and give residents a strong position and good access to health care.

Usability, design and concept

Valtech was contracted by Inera to do a pre study and proof of concept in 2009. In 2010 Valtech was contracted by Inera to further develop the usability, design and concept, and change the underlying Web platform for 1177.se. In recent years the site has become increasingly important for the dialogue with customers/residents on the web. The result of that are higher demands when it comes to technology and content to meet visitors' expectations and needs. The main purpose of the further development of 1177.se was to strengthen the technical platform and improve the content, design and concepts based on these aspects.

User-centric and agile workflow

Valtech has in cooperation with Inera selected a user-centric and agile workflow. Scrum method is used in order to effectively meet the organization's desired goals. The development project can be followed by all stakeholders, including Sweden's 21 country councils. Sprint demos are held every third week for the project group of up to 70 people.

The new site is built on EPiServer CMS, SiteSeeker search engine and other services. We also conducted a number of integrations with various external and internal systems. Valtech has implemented the project with two closely collaborating Scrum teams in areas such as systems development, usability and graphic design.

The new 1177.se was first launched in December 2010 and Valtech has continued the collaboration and development since then with continuously adding many new and enhanced features. It has been a very good and challenging project that has resulted in a service that all Swedish citizens can use and benefit from. The latest update in March, 2013 now makes the site responsive to give visitors using mobile devices or tablets a great user experience.
