Intranet for Skåne

Skånetrafiken has developed an intranet for its employees, with emphasis on usability and modern design. The process of adding content has been radically simplified which makes it easier for everyone to contribute and keep it up to date.

"We know that to maintain a high grade of service towards our customers we must have an equally good intranet," says Nina. "The earlier bespoke solution didn't meet our expectations to evolve so we evaluated a number of different web publishing tools was done and selected EPiServer."

A CMS that is easy to use

"It was important for us to find a tool that is easy for our employees to use but it must also be a tool that is scalable and future proofed," Nina Björkman explains. "Besides, our head Region Skåne is using EPiServer so it was an obvious choice."

Focus on the customer

With an increased focus on the customer it is important to give customers the service they demand. One way to succeed is by having good and up-to-date internal information. With the intranet we can work on the basis of our five values: together, straightness, fun, (Clientship), and Skåne benefit," Nina says. "And it becomes even more clear when the rest of our web solutions are integrated."

Skånetrafiken's vision is that the intranet should be considered as a first step towards a travel portal for the southern regions of Sweden. "The values for the intranet are increased simplicity and give a quick overview for each individual worker at Skånetrafiken. Since everyone can update and create information each will be able to overcome the problem of information that no one previously took responsibility for."

A living and up-to-date intranet

The intranet will be the places were all workers can find the relevant information they need to do a good job. The main responsibility lies with the information department but the vision is that shared effort from everyone will create a living and up-to-date intranet, says Nina.

In 2006 more than 104 million trips were made using Skånetrafiken, an increases of 4 million which is more than 4 percent growth over the previous year. "That is approximately three trips per second," says Nina Björkman, web coordinator at Skånetrafiken.

Skånetrafiken is the regional agency responsible for public transport throughout Skåne. Every day approximately 150,000 people use public transport - city buses, regional buses, and train lines: Öresundstågen and Pågatågen. Many regularly plan their route using Skånetrafikens external web site.
