When the Swedish Golf Federation decided to develop the new Golf.se website, its goal was to make the site more engaging for visitors. The new website has high demands on availability and performance.
Today Golf.se is one of Sweden's most visited websites - an invaluable resource for golfers, it has services such as booking tee-off times at Nordic golf clubs as well as registration forms for competitions. The site also includes sections about services like the Golf guide, discussion forums and instruction videos. The new website has high demands on availability and performance and much development focus was concentrated on building a reliable environment with fast response times on page load.
The new website is based on EPiServer CMS, EPiServer Relate community functions and ImageVault for advanced photo editing. Golfbox (MinGolf and GolfGuiden), advertisement handling and other IT systems (GIT) were integrated with the platform.The project employed four developers and one tester during spring 2009, with an intensified period of development in the autumn. The launch was in May 2010. "We've reached all our targets with our new website, as it was also delivered on time and within budget", says a delighted Ove Ellemark, project manager at the Swedish Golf Association.
The Swedish Golf Association is responsible for golf practice and development in Sweden. The country's 500 golf clubs are members of the Association, which in turn is split into 21 districts. The Golf Association has its own commercial company, SGF Affärsutveckling AB, which works to promote the sport to businesses who want to be associated with golf which in turn creates more resources for the sport.
