Tasteline's New Web Site Focuses on Community Members
The eight year-old platform needed replacing to meet the demands for easy and cost-effective content administration, higher performance, administration of user generated content and recipes, and a more powerful search engine.
New Tasteline uses EPiServer CMS 5 for editorial content, EPiServer Community 3 to supply and administer user generated content and Surfray to provide smart searching. The site has been entirely developed by Getupdated Internet Solutions, who have also developed a new tool to administer all the recipes and articles regarding food, drink, party and health. New tasteline.com has a clearer design, which emphasizes content.
Tasteline's new Web site contains more than 20,000 recipes and new and exciting recipes are added daily by the editorial staff and 100,00 community members. The editorial staff consists of journalists specialized in food and drink, dieticians, chefs and a food columnist. New Tasteline mainly focuses on the more than 100,000 members that actively contribute with content, making it the future food and drink Web site for dedicated food lovers today.
The background to Tasteline's new Web site is the rapid development of the social media world, with increased demands for interactivity and visitor participation. This development means the Tasteline editorial staff have taken a step back to make more room for the members. Surveys show that visitors value each other's recipes as much as Tasteline's own recipes from professional chefs. Food is also more fun when shared, something that was taken in account when creating the new Web site to give the visitors a more personal experience.
New Tasteline is a social Web site and community that makes it possible to interact with like-minded and provides numerous ways to find and share recipes and cookery tips. The possibilities for members to affect the content are immeasurable. A favorite recipe uploaded by a member can, for example, be ranked higher in the most popular lists than recipes from professionals, as it's the members that decide what they like most.
It's possible to send recipes via SMS, subscribe to RSS feeds and share favorite recipes on other social Web sites like Facebook, Digg, Del.icio.us, etc. Members can save recipes and shopping lists on My Tasteline at the press of a button, and it's easy to adjust recipes based on the amount of portions. Members can also apply to become experts and join clubs created for their food interests. A new search function also makes it easier to find hidden treasures in Sweden's largest recipe collection. The search results not only shows popular searches, but also related hits like drink tips, articles, etc. Members can also help visitors find recipes by adding their own labels to describe the recipe.
