The Search Connector provides you with integration between your EPiServer and an enterprise search engine in a way which is not possible to create through a simple web crawl. By utilizing the unique structure of your EPiServer implementation you can build a search application that suits your business needs.
Supported enterprise search platforms are: Apache Solr, Autonomy IDOL, Google Search Appliance, IBM Omnifind and Microsoft FAST. Others can be added on request.
Features include:
- Incremental crawling - Do a full crawl once and then keep your index up-to-date by updating only those pages that have been changed, moved or deleted.
- Language specific crawling - The Search Connector crawls each language separately which enables language specific processing.
- Document level security - The Search Connector extracts the security information for every page and feeds it to the enterprise search engine which uses this information to enforce document level security on your EPiServer pages.
- Metadata mapping - With the Search Connector, you get the ability to control which metadata in EPiServer goes into which field in your enterprise search engine and thus enabling the use of facet filtering and other advanced features in your search application.
- Automatic indexing of linked documents - The Search Connector has the ability to automatically fetch and index uploaded documents from EPiServer.
