EPiServer Announces Intention to go Public
The world’s fastest growing provider of Web Content Management and platforms for social communities today announces that the company is preparing an initial public offering on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.
Building credibility for the company is one of the key drivers to take the company public. In a market where only a few competitors are public, this will be a differentiator for EPiServer when recruiting new partners and signing new customers. A public company is easier to evaluate since growth and revenue figures are available in the public domain.
EPiServer has grown on average 35% per year over the past 5 years and has grown twice as fast as the WCM market in general. License revenue growth for 2009 was 46 %, with December being the best month ever in the company’s history. Revenues for 2009 were $29.9M. EPiServer has been profitable since its inception in 1994, and continues to show good margins.
The growth can be attributed to :
- Increased global demand from partners and customer for EPiServer’s platforms. The fastest growing markets are the US, UK and Scandinavia. Since 2005, the number of customers has increased from 800 to nearly 3000. During 2009, more than 600 new customers started using EPiServer products.
- Geographic expansion. Since 2006, EPiServer has established new offices in Denmark, Finland, Holland, the US, Australia and South Africa.
- Rapid expansion of the partner network. The network has grown from 86 partners in 2005 to over 400 partners at the end of 2009. In 2009 alone, more than 100 partners were added to the EPiServer eco-system.
- Blending best of commercial product with an open-source-like community. The development community, EPiServer World, now has more than 8500 active members. These members not only share ideas and solutions with each other, but submit code samples and build extensions to the EPiServer platform, which can be openly available or sold in the marketplace called EPiMore.
- Expansion of the product portfolio. Our portfolio now combines ease-of-use with powerful functionality , spanning content creation (WCM), community development, e-commerce, marketing automation, and hosting optimized for web site uptime. The expansion of our product portfolio has been a major contributor to our growth, with 50% of recent growth attributed to the new products that have been released over the past two years.
