Beijer Byggmaterial AB - one of Sweden’s leading suppliers of building materials

Beijer Byggmaterial AB is one of Sweden’s leading suppliers of building materials with an annual turnover of 3,5 billion SEK and 1,500 employees. They are situated in more than 50 locations from Luleå up north to Malmö in the south. Beijer’s main customers are large and small sized building companies and private persons. Beijer is a part of Danske Traelast, with businesses in Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden.

Background:

Beijer wanted a flexible and simple Web publishing tool to update their external Web site and extranet. It was also important that the same solution could be used as a media database for all types of media handling. The system should also be integrated into Beijer’s existing business solutions.

Solution:

Sogeti developed a Web site on the EPiServer platform including the EPiServer module EPiStore. On the Web site there is amongst others a product catalog, integrated with Beijer’s existing business system and an ongoing update of the product information on the Web site.

The Web site also includes a media database based on the EPiServer module ImageVault. The media database consists of all of Beijer’s product images, advertising templates and other graphical material, and it is used by Beijer’s offices, magazines, advertising agency and production agencies.

After the launch, the Web site has been further enhanced with import and export functions for product information to the e-commerce site of Skanska.

Beijer and Sogeti are continuously working to further develop the Web site.

"We had four different suppliers and three different tools to choose from. Both EPiServer and Sogeti felt like a safe choice and their tangible proposal together with a fixed price appealed to us. Sogeti’s extensive Web and knowledge experience was impressive. The personal chemistry was also an important parameter," said Advertising Director Roger Nordström at Beijer.  

Results:

The new Web site has lead to increased service towards Beijer’s customer groups and the updating of the Web site has been substantially simplified.

"Thanks to our new Web site our customers are able to get a very good overview of our product range. Our customers now also have access to our building tips and can create their purchase lists on the Web," said Roger Nordström.
