EPiServer has given Robur an easy, efficient and affordable Web platform

The challenge: To find a user-friendly system that was fully functional from start.

Many Swedes choose to manage their savings in funds - something that Robur know all about. With 2.8 million Swedish customers, they are Sweden's largest mutual fund manager, and are also an actor on the international financial market with a managed capital of almost 350 billion SEK. Most of Robur's customers are private individuals that regularly follow how their fund savings develop, and for many customers the easiest way to get information about the changing rates is on Robur's Web site www.robur.se. A good Web site is, therefore, very important for Robur's customer relations.

The customers demand more detailed information about funds, which increases the requirements for Robur's Web site. This is why Robur recently made the decision to change to a better and more modern tool to build and administer their external Web site. The old system, which was an outdated in-house content management system, was no longer modern and had reached its maximum developmental potential.

"We needed a system that offered good functionality and was easy and quick to implement," says Louise Thilander, development manager for Robur's Web site. "We also wanted a system that was easy to further develop.

"It was also very important that the system was easy both to use and get started with. We wanted a tool that could be used by everyone," adds Louise Thilander.

The Solution: EPiServer.

Before changing to EPiServer, Robur thoroughly evaluated different content management systems on the market. The other systems had many advantages, but after closer comparison, it was decided to go with EPiServer. Robur had by this time been using EPiServer to administer their intranet, and had therefore gained solid experience of using EPiServer "for real".

"The positive experience of our intranet Web editors promoted EPiServer for our external Web site," says Louise Thilander. "The Web editors praised, among other things, EPiServer's extensive functionality and its easy administration, where it was just as easy to administer a Web site as it was to use a word-processing program."

Advantages: Easy-to-use, fully developed and easy to get started with.

EPiServer has given Robur's Web editors a tool that is easy to use with a lot of useful built-in functions. Another good functionality is the built-in language support, which makes it easy for Web editors to update Web pages in several languages.

Another big advantage with EPiServer is that it is based on standard technology.

"EPiServer is built on .NET technology from Microsoft, which makes it easy to develop our own functions and integrate with other databases," says Magnus Kerner, Project Manager at Ciber, who has helped Robur with their EPiServer implementation.

According to Magnus Kerner, customers also appreciate that EPiServer is affordable to purchase and use, and that it is quick and easy to implement and get started with, which also makes EPiServer very cost-effective.
