The Swedish Civil Aviation Authority Now Online!

When the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration (Luftfartsverket) was split January 1, 2005, Sogeti was given the chance to develop an external Web site and an intranet for the new authority, Swedish Civil Aviation Authority. Work was started in parallel on both Web sites in September/October and the planning and timing were critical.

The Swedish Civil Aviation Authority works to promote a secure, cost-effective and safe environment for civil aviation. The authority, with approximately 230 employees, is responsible for regulations and inspections within Swedish civil aviation and supervises, analyses and evaluates the development of the civil aviation sector. The authority also provides expertise in issues including physical planning, the environment, emergency planning and contingency planning.

Sogeti had previously developed both an external Web site and intranet for Luftfartsverket and were well aware of their business operation. This was an important parameter when selecting a new supplier shortly after the split.

Like the existing Web site for Luftfartsverket, the new Web site was to be based on the content management system EPiServer. As time was an important factor, work was based on the existing templates and much of the work involved planning the best way to make the most changes with the least possible effort.

A new template was created for the start page and new images were created to reflect the new graphical profile. This, together with different colors and fonts, gave the new authority's Web site a totally new identity.

"As a new authority, it was very important for us to quickly get started and use our external Web site and intranet to provide service and information to the general public. This was largely made possible thanks to our cooperation with Sogeti," say Eva-Mari Löfqvist and Karin Nordenö, infomasters at the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority.
