EPiServer AB was founded in 1994 by Mikael Runhem, a former Microsoft employee. The company initially focused on Internet-based electronic mail, but has since 1995 been entirely focused on Web-based systems. 1995 saw the delivery of the Swedish Stock Exchange Web site, after which the development of EPiServer started. The first version was launched in 1996. Since the start, EPiServer has positioned itself at the cutting edge of technology and the company still boasts a high competence in Microsoft products.
