Skanska's employees have become better informed, more connected and able to share their knowledge and experience with the new intranet OneSkanska built on EPiServer CMS connecting 30,000 users in 17 countries.
When Swedish development and construction company Skanska decided to merge its global intranet onto one common platform, it faced the task of integrating some 30,000 users in 17 countries, who had previously been spread across 30 separate sites. The new solution needed to offer excellent usability, along with a combination of personalized, local and shared content.
"We're extremely proud that our OneSkanska intranet solution, which currently receives 40-50,000 visits every weekday, was recently named one of the top ten intranet sites in the world by global usability experts, the Nielsen Norman Group. It has brought the company together on one structured platform and helped simplify communication across the group," says Kimi Matsubara, Global Intranet Manager, Skanska.
"Although content is personalized according to each user's location and business unit, it's also easy to access information belonging to another area. This has helped our employees become better informed, more connected and able to share their knowledge and experience. OneSkanska contains a total of more than 30,000 pages and we're determined that it will never become static. One of our plans going forward is to add more interactive features, such as comments and chat forums," says Kimi.
