Episerver’s community platform selected for e-skills UK portfolio

e-skills UK is a not-for-profit, employer-led organisation licensed by the UK government as the Sector Skills Council for Business and Information Technology. As well as www.e-skills.com, it runs a number of satellite sites for individual community groups including BigAmbition www.bigambition.co.uk, CC4G computer clubs www.cc4g.net, and e-skills Staffroom www.e-skills.com/staffroom.

These three sites have been built and are now run on Episerver's CMS which was specifically developed to enable non-technical people to easily manage – create, update and upload - new content on their websites.

Episerver's Relate+ is also being implemented to manage the community elements of these sites, and e-skills UK are looking to extend the use of the Episerver solutions to their corporate site and the rest of their portfolio.

Relate+ provides organisations and their interactive agencies with everything they need to build and manage websites and intranets – and create and work interactively with online communities. It combines community building (Episerver Community), email composition and maintenance (Episerver mail), and CMS (Episerver CMS) in one package.

Episerver Relate+ is a template package in the form of a ready-to-use community, inspired by Facebook, which can be adapted to customer-specific needs. This means that an online social community can be up and running very quickly. Episerver has been used to build more than 100 successful online communities with more than five million members. These include the community of VisitSweden which was named as the best website in Sweden at the 12th annual awards of Internet World, an IDG magazine.

Foresite will use Relate+ to build new communities and include forums, wikis, profiles and other groups onto e-skills UK's sites. e-skills UK's individual groups will be able to manage these communities themselves and create well-designed customised emails.

Barnaby Moffat, director at Foresite, said: "Episerver has thought of everything needed to set up and maintain an active community site without spending a fortune – which is, of course, even more vital in today's economy. We are particularly impressed with how easy it is to mix controlled content from Episerver CMS with the dynamic and user-generated content which will appear in Episerver Community There is nothing else like Relate+ available on the market today."

Neal Perry, Country Manager of Episerver UK & Ireland said: "Organisations are looking for new ways to create meaningful interaction. It is time to move away from managing just content, which any CMS can do. Relate+ enables organisations to manage context, communities and customers, as well as content."
