Ascend 2017 in Review

In case you were not able to attend Ascend 2017, here’s what you missed.

Over 600 attendees gathered for Ascend, the Episerver user conference, at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

The event included nearly 100 sessions across six persona-based tracks, product demos, hands-on educational labs, inspirational keynotes, and networking events. Without doubt, so much has happened with Episerver in the last year. Our robust community of customers, prospects, partners, industry thought leaders, analysts, and media were eager to gain first-hand knowledge of Episerver’s growth, latest changes, and where Episerver is headed.

The three-day user conference began on Sunday with a new addition, Partner Day.  More than 200 partners attended this exclusive half-day Partner Day with updates on strategy and the product roadmap, successful selling, and regional breakouts.  Episerver Partner Award winners were also honored for their noteworthy contributions in 2016, and their commitment to a strong partnership.

Episerver customers and prospects were offered an array of benefits including a persona-based agenda, educational sessions, free certification, and exclusive Ascend promotions. There was an added focus to the commerce community with a VIP Commerce Experience for ecommerce customers. Perks included an appreciation dinner, round table discussions with ecommerce consultants and Episerver customers, and a private hospitality suite available throughout the show.

“The Episerver account team was beyond helpful. As a potential buyer, I felt as if I was already a client.” -Episerver prospect

Episerver was proud to present a diverse range of thought leaders and keynotes, including Episerver Executives, Mel Robbins, Scott Hanselman and The Passing Zone. Mel Robbins, best known for creating “The Five Second Rule” and delivering one of the most popular TEDx Talks in the world, was a true inspiration. She also released her second book at Ascend and everyone in the audience received a copy. Microsoft’s, Scott Hanselman’s keynote, “JavaScript, The Cloud, and the Rise of the New Virtual Machine” was crowd favorite while America’s Got Talent, The Passing Zone, energized the crowd while exploring the power of partnership, innovation and collaboration. With a variety of keynotes, there was something for everyone.

Networking was ranked one of the most popular reasons people cite for attending Ascend. And who doesn't like the opportunity to get to know and meet new people and industry leaders? An incredible amount of sharing, learning, and leveraging occurred. This was especially true during the five hosted events and through the event’s main communication tool, the Ascend mobile app. With just over 90% of users actively engaged, the app provided a digital networking place to connect, share ideas, and get immediate feedback. The app was also the place to get updates, an opportunity to win prizes, and build your custom agenda. The app enabled us to view real-time insights across the entire event lifecycle. Feedback from the customer and partner survey said it best: “The Ascend App – the best conference app I have ever used! Bravo...made my life and schedule flawless.” It was a win for everyone.

“The customer dinner Monday night was a great networking experience. Forcing everyone to split up from their groups was nice and I was able to meet people and brainstorm with them.” – Episerver Customer

From the sessions, to the Partner Village Expo, to the keynotes, to the parties, it was quite an event and we thank everyone who attended. We have gathered a tremendous amount of feedback from the event and are headed first into planning Ascend 2018! Stay tuned for a short video with some of the best moments of Ascend 2017.
