Making city services easy for everyone

Stockholm, Sweden is built on 14 islands around one of Europe's largest and best-preserved mediavel city centers. The city is one of the five fastest growing regions in Europe, with over 900,000 residents. In 2015, the city's website had 17 million visits.

Challenge: 

The goal for the City of Stockholm website is to provide 24/7 online services for residents and businesses in Stockholm. The website has about 400 editors and tens of thousands of webpages on the city's schools, elderly care, street cleaning and parking. Ease of use and accessibility were key factors when selecting a platform. 

Solution:

"The purpose of the website is to make it as easy as possible for the people living here or having businesses to use our services," says Ola Williams, Web Strategist at City of Stockholm. "If you need to apply to kindergarten, for example, with our website you can do it when you have the time, not when the City of Stockholm has time.

Results:

The number of visitors to stockholm.se is growing by 10% every year, and the website has been recognized as setting a new standard in how to present and deliver city services. In 2015, InternetWorld in Sweden named it the Website of the Year in its Top 100 awards.
