Lindblad Expeditions is an expedition travel company working in partnership with National Geographic. Based in New York City, their goal is to inspire people to explore and care about the planet. Their marine-based expedition programs promote conservation and sustainable tourism around the world.
In the ultra-competitive travel industry, if you aren't providing an up-to-date, dynamic and robust website, you're falling behind. Lindblad Expeditions sought a flexible, easy-to-use platform that would allow them to really showcase the imagery of their expeditions and deliver a great digital experience to their visitors.
"I think Episerver is a very developer-friendly platform," says Max Rubis, Webmaster at Lindblad Expeditions. "There is an open API and a lot of documentation exists for it, and it was very easy to start development.
From a technical perspective, we went from a closed-source system to a fully extensible and customizable solution. In the near future, we are planning to update to the latest version of the Episerver platform which will allow us to integrate with a third-party email service provider and our internal booking system, so that we can get a 360-degree view of our customers."
Since the launch of the new site, Lindblad has seen their bounce rate fall and their average session duration rise.
"We went from an antiquated, text-heavy site, to a fully immersive interactive site that brings the expedition experience to your fingertips," adds Paula McAleese, Digital Marketing Manager at Lindblad Expeditions.
"One of the best things about Episerver is it is so easy to use. I was trained to use Episerver and was up and running using it within ten minutes of the initial demonstration."Paula McAleese, Digital Marketing Manager, Lindblad Expeditions
